The arrival of 2024 brought us several new features in the Meta universe: a new actor eager for prominence such as Threads, a series of changes of Instagram posts size, new functionalities perfect for posts planning and new ways to lead customers to your store.
What awaits on Instagram this year?
News in eCommerce
This year Instagram is trying to make it easier for us to use their social networks as a gateway to new customers for our business.
For starters, we’ve got Instagram Shop function and in-shop ads, continuing the company’s commitment to position itself as one of the main players in eCommerce. These functions allow us to create product catalogs from which users can search, save, share and buy.
These catalogs are set up from Meta’s business suite and allow various customization options.
Shopping stickers
Related to business, Instagram introduced new features to story stickers. One of these features is the Shopping Sticker which, as the name suggests, allow users to click on the sticker to buy a product (note that shop function must be activated to configure the sticker behavior). These stickers can be used by our contacts and other users, so that the use of this new tool can be very wide.
Scheduled posts
One of the most awaited functions for the social media management was to be able to schedule posts through Instagram’s native application, without having to rely on third parties. From now on it is possible to schedule posts, although at the moment, it does not allow scheduling joint posts with other platform accounts.
Measures and aspect ratios
On a technical level, we will need to consider the sizes of the content we want to publish on the network.
We also need to be aware of how our videos will be integrated into our profile. Remember that videos that are not uploaded as carousel will automatically become Reels.

Threads
Finally, one of the great news this year is Threads. In order to compete with Twitter (now X), Threads accepts short texts limited by 500 characters. Just like in the bird network, Threads allows us to publish and respond to other posts with text, images, video or a combination of the different formats.
Anyone who has an Instagram account can immediately create a Threads account. This account is linked to Instagram and allows direct link between the two platforms, so that the content of one can easily jump to the other.
Now that you know about the new features and applications included in the Meta universe, you can plan the most suitable marketing strategies for your business.
